Our guest rooms
We offer four comfortable rooms with private bathrooms: two double rooms and two triple rooms, accommodating up to ten guests in total.
Located in the Dore Valley at around 500 metres above sea level, our guesthouse enjoys beautiful views of the Livradois-Forez mountains, on the sunny eastern-facing slopes known locally as the côté soleil levant.
Officially classified as a 3-star guesthouse by Gîtes de France.

All four rooms feature comfortable beds and a private bathroom with shower and toilet. We offer two double rooms and two triple rooms, accommodating up to 10 guests.
Some rooms have a balcony or private terrace, where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and beautiful views of the Auvergne countryside.
A delicious breakfast is included in your room rate and served every morning.

About us
We, Ellen and Robert-Jan, warmly welcome you to La Maison du Chevalier, our bed & breakfast and table d’hôtes in the beautiful Livradois-Forez Regional Natural Park in Auvergne, France.
The region is perfect for walkers, motorcyclists and anyone who loves nature, scenic roads and picturesque villages. Together with two local guesthouses, we also offer a special 10-day walking holiday.
With four comfortable guest rooms and the option of enjoying dinner with us, we are also ideal for families and friends attending local events.
We welcome business travellers working with companies such as EUROAPI / SANOFI, OMERIN, CELTA and Smurfit Kappa Dore Emballage. Please contact us for special rates for regular stays.

Amazing stay at La Maison du Chevalier
Staying in La Maison du Chevalier is a must if you are nearby. The house is located in a fantastic place and every little detail has been taken care of. Ellen and Robert are so warm people, making your stay even better. They are happy to help with any of your needs and they are amazing cookers. So I would recommend if you stay at their place request dinner, good food, and better company. I was there for a business trip to EUROAPI -VERTOLAYE (the best place to stay if you go there) and I would like to stay again for holidays.

A 10 with a pin for this B&B
How much we enjoyed, together with my partner we spent 6 days there and it was not 1 too many! After a long search we came to this B&B and it exceeded all our expectations.
The room is lovely and the view fantastic! And then you wake up in the silence and get a delicious breakfast!
During the day you can enjoy exploring the area and Ellen and Robert-Jan can show you around, they come with very nice tips and help you with anything where necessary (since we speak 2 words of French and yet occasionally want to reserve something).
In the evening you can optionally stay for dinner (this is also useful if you do not speak French 😛) There was a delicious 3-course menu served ... where many restaurants can be jealous. (Ellen is the Chef!)
Nothing is too much to ask, service is in their DNA!
Thanks again for the great time we had with you, but especially with you! You are very nice and kind people who gave us a fantastic first vacation week.
And we will definitely come back, if only to give 'Beer' a big hug again (Beer is the sweetest and nicest house dog).

Everything was perfect: the warm welcome from Ellen and Robert, the rooms with views and very comfortable beds, the relaxing garden, the varied breakfast...and the meals worthy of a great chef...Thanks again to Ellen and Robert for this charming stay...and beer od course...

The best place to stay in Marat!
We stayed one night as we were passing through the area and we can only say BRAVO and keep it up. We were welcomed like at home, we ate the evening with the hosts Robert and Ellen who have the 2 the easy contact.We spent an evening as between friends. A very good meal, just like in a restaurant, at a very attractive price!
We stayed in room 1, which has a lovely balcony overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. The bedding is perfect: the mattress is very comfortable and it's very quiet all around.
Last but not least, the breakfast is a real treat and well worth the trip!
In a word: THANK YOU and we'll be back!
