Our chambre d'hôtes is located (500 m) on the side where the sun rises (L'Auvergne a coté soleil levant) in the Livraidois Forez, which is a regional nature park with low mountains (we overlook the Col du Béal 1390 m) and with an enormous wealth of animals and plants. It is also called the “Vallée de la Dore ”because it is the valley between the two mountain ranges, Monts du Livradois and Monts du Forez.

More sun in summer, more cold and snow in winter. Autumn is beautiful in its colors and it is often so nice that we can have lunch outside. Spring can be a bit colder and wetter, but that makes up for the wonderful summer. And much less wind than we were used to (on the coast), so that makes it nice and pleasant in the sun. In short, we are very satisfied with the weather here!

The Auvergne is also called the lungs of France. This means the clean air that we sniff here. It consists of four departments, the Allier, Puy de Dôme, Cantal and the Haute Loire and is a varied region in terms of landscape. Here no danger of monotony: volcanoes, forests, plains, mountains and valleys often still with rugged unspoiled nature.
